DIY: Kimono

Being that I have been extremely inspired by the Bohemian vibes and completely in love with kimonos, I bring to you this super easy DIY. The only part that I hesitated about was the sewing. I was about to hot glue the whole thing, but I decided not to be lazy haha. The sewing only took about 10 minutes for each side. Plus, it will last longer. This tutorial will only take you less than 1 hour. It is worth mentioning that, I got this idea from the blogger, Kristin Eldridge.
This kimono is the most perfect thing ever! The only thing I can say is that I am fascinated with the results!!!!!

What you need:

- Piece of fabric or a scarf (I choose my scarf from F21 for only $10) the length depends, I wanted my kimono to go past my knees so I choose a pretty big scarf.
- Thread & a needle
- Scissors
- Pins
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Iron

  • Step 1: Reverse and fold your scarf into half

  • Step 2: Measure about 50-60 cm from the bottom of your scarf up (depends on length of the scarf) The point is to leave the top part open for your arms.

  • Step 3: Pin up both layers together, making it easier to sew in a straight line

  • Step 4: Begin sewing from the bottom up. Do the same thing on the other side. It doesn't have to be perfect, my stitches were pretty basic plus they are hardly visible. The point of the kimono is to be imperfect and flowy.

  • Step 5: Find the middle of the scarf and cut ONLY THE TOP LAYER all the way up leaving about 2 inches
  • Step 6: Do a small fold on the edges and with an iron pass it through making it easier to sew.

  •  Step 7: Sew the fold all the way up on both sides. Once you're done pass the iron through one more time for a stronger hold.

AND ITS READY!!
